Throughout my journey to become vegan, I have consulted countless internet blogs and resources as well as a few books. The following books have helped me in my quest to greater health.
The China Study by T. Colin Campbell – By far the most eye opening book I have ever read. Once you read it you will never eat the same again.
Color Me Vegan by Colleen Patrick-Goudreau – Best cookbook on Vegan food yet. I have made over 30 of the recipes and only had one that tasted bad. Highly recommended.
The Thrive Diet and Whole Foods to Thrive by Brendan Brazier- If anyone says vegans are unhealthy, under nourished and unable to compete as an athlete then being up this man in your debate. Mr. Brazier is an Iron Man competitor and founder of Vega, a successful vegan shake company. Check out the book for inspiration and information on not only what vegan food can do for your health but what it can do for the environment.
The Complete Idiots Guide To Plant Based Nutrition by R.D.,C.P.T.,Julieanna Hever, M.S. – Not a bad book for those of you starting out and want a good foundation for whole food living.
Going Raw: Everything You Need to Start Your Own Raw Food Diet and Lifestyle Revolution at Home by Judita Wignall – Great recipes in this book, however if you do not own a food processor or dehydrator you may want to hold off on this one for now. I would say this book is for an Intermediate Raw foodist seeing as how half the recipes require a dehydrator.
12 Steps to Raw Foods: How to End Your Dependency on Cooked Food by Victoria Boutenko- Excellent book. For anyone who wishes to adopt a raw food life style I would start here.
Juicing and Detoxification by Steve Meyerowitz – great book for anyone who wishes to participate in any kind of juice fast from 1 day express to 30 days plus. I would have liked to see a specific meal plan for these fasts but nonetheless an excellent resource when starting out.
